Ditching the Velodrome

Most of you might be looking forward to the Beijing Olympics this year but do you know that there are already plans made for the 2012 London Olympics? One of which is the Hopkins-designed Velodrome that is to stand as its beacon. At first it was designed to have a timber roof, something that pro-timber lobbyists are vying for. Unfortunately it has now been replaced with a steel roof! The reason for this is that there are few timber resources and it has a very high cost compared to steel.

Anywhere this will go, it is sure that it will be constructed for the 2012 Olympics and it is sure to be highly secured with DVR security systems set up all over the place.
